G A flat-plate solar collector is used to heat atmospheric air flowing through a rectangular channel. The bottom surface of the channel is well insulated, while the top surface is subjected to a uniform heat flux q, which is due to the net effect of solar radiation absorption and heat exchange between the absorber and cover plates.
(a) Beginning with the appropriate differential control volume, obtain an equation that could be used to determine the mean air temperature Tm(x) as a function of distance along the channel.
(b) Solve this equation to obtain an expression for the mean temperature of the air leaving the collector.
(c) With air inlet conditions of rn 0.2kgs^(-1) and T_(m, i) = 20°C, what is the air outlet temperature if length L = 4 mm, width w = 1m, and q_o" = 1000 Wm^(-2)? The specific heat of the air can be taken to be 1008 Jkg^(-1)K^(-1).

For the closed feedwater heater below, feedwater enters state 3 at a pressure of 2000 psia and temperature of 420 °f at a rate of ix10 ibhr. the feedwat extracted steam enters state 1 at a pressure of 1000 psia and enthalpy of 1500 btu/lbm. the extracted er leaves at an enthalpy of 528.7 btu/lbm steam leaves as a saturated liquid. (16) a) determine the mass flow rate of the extraction steam used to heat the feedwater (10) b) determine the terminal temperature difference of the closed feedwater heater
