In a technological society, there will always be a fear of having someone or something watching your every move. There is currently GPS technology available to pet owners who want to implant devices containing information into their pet in case the animal gets lost. Would this kind of technology work for toddlers or elderly family members with Alzheimer’s? What if the implant could do more than give home address information? What if it was an actual tracking device? Would it be okay for parents to use this to find their child? What if you could have an implant with your bank account information so you never had to carry cash or so your front door would open automatically as you walked up? Do you think this is okay? Who gets to decide? Who is in control of this information? What role should the government play in regulating this technology?

Your challenge is to research the use of these microchips and decide on a possible new use for them. You must propose a use for this technology that does not already exist in our market. Be creative. You will then discuss the ethical implications of your invention and the use of GPS implants in general. Your group must provide the following:

1. 2 page typed paper explain the primary use of your device, the pros & cons, any ethical dilemmas your group discussed, directions for use, and a final decision on whether your group believes this is a viable option for the future.

2. A color diagram depicting where & how this device could work.

3. A three minute presentation to the class on your device.
