A methane stream at 25°Cand 10 atm is fed to a combustion furnace at a rate of 0.05 m^3/s. Air is added to the furnace at a rate of 7.0 m^3/s at 100°C and 1 atm. All of the methane fed to the furnace is combusted, but 10% of the methane fed is converted to CO instead of CO2. Assume ideal gas behavior.
a. Write and balance the combustion reaction(s) that are taking place,
b. Draw a process flowchart, label the unknown variables and fully balance the process.
c. What is the percent excess air fed to the furnace? (A:~~18%)

For the closed feedwater heater below, feedwater enters state 3 at a pressure of 2000 psia and temperature of 420 °f at a rate of ix10 ibhr. the feedwat extracted steam enters state 1 at a pressure of 1000 psia and enthalpy of 1500 btu/lbm. the extracted er leaves at an enthalpy of 528.7 btu/lbm steam leaves as a saturated liquid. (16) a) determine the mass flow rate of the extraction steam used to heat the feedwater (10) b) determine the terminal temperature difference of the closed feedwater heater
