The distance from the top of the bed to the floor was approximately 3 feet. further investigation into the parents showed no record of child abuse. autopsy revealed the baby died as a result of a subdural hematoma and diffuse axonal injury. there was a contusion on front of the skull, galeal, and a linear skull fracture. the child also had white matter contusion tears. no subarachnoid hemorrhages or retinal hemorrhages were found. the child also had no neck injuries or broken bones. upon reviewing the medical history, the child had recently had a case of meningitis. was the child a victim of shaken baby syndrome
