Pick two different time of the day (e. g., day time vs. night time). For each of those hours you pick, perform a traceroute between a source and a destination located on the same continent to get several round-trip delay measurements. (Hint: see traceroute –q option)(a) Find the average and standard deviation round-trip delays at each of the two hours.(b) Find the number of routers in the path at each of the two hours. Did the paths change during any of the hours?(c) Try to identify the number of ISP networks that the traceroute packets pass through from source to destination. Routers with similar names and/or similar IP addresses should be considered as part of the same ISP. In your experiments, do the largest delays occur at the peering interfaces between adjacent ISPs? (d) (Read and man page of whois. Use the command to find which organization is assigned the following AS number: 3, 9, 32, 1239, and 12000. (Hint: use one option -h to specify whois. arin. net or whois. radb. net as the host to query) What is the AS number of D City? (e) Now check the results in (c) by using whois to check which particular routers belong to the same organization or ISP. Report any differences in your results/observations.(f) Repeat (a), (b), and (c) for a source and destination on different continents. Compare the intra-continent and inter-continent results.
