Lattice energy is the bond strength of the ionic compounds and which maintains the crystal structure of them. when   a gaseous form of the compound converts to a solid crystalline form, energy is given off. ionic compounds have six properties. first property is hardness and brittleness, high melting and boiling points, being solid at room temperature, they conduct electricity, when melted and dissolved in water are soluble and they form crystals when combined. nacl or common table salt is an example of an ionic compound.i
