Explanation:  pH of the blood is maintained at 7.0 to 7.5that is neutral value.

This is because if the pH of the is lower than the maintained value then it will become acidic .

Acidic pH can cause the medical urgency known as acidosis leading to vomiting, diarrhea etc.

If the pH becomes higher, then the blood will become basic in nature and it can also leas to the death of the person.

That is why the pH of the blood is maintianed at neutral value of 7.0 to 7.5

Many of the cells in the body can only function within a range near a neutral PH, some of the enzymes responsible for production and growth, and breaking down the food we consume and help in other important function within the human body works within a certain PH range.

The buffers, which are present in almost the entire living solution helps to maintain this PH.  

The blood is made up of large amount of carbonic acid, bicarbonate, a weak acid and a base. Together they assists in maintaining the blood level at 7.4. However, a higher or lower PH level can be very dangerous.

If the blood PH level is below 6.8 or above 7.8, individual can fall sick or even die. The presence of bicarbonate in the blood helps to neutralizes excess acid while carbonic acids help to neutralizes excess bases.

Any substance that minimizes or stops massive changes in PH is called a buffer. Every buffer has a particular buffer capacity and range. The buffer capacity is the amount of base or acid that is added to the PH level before it changes significantly while the buffer range refers to the PH range where a buffer neutralizes the acid and base that is added effectively.
