How is polygenic inheritance different from the patterns described by gregor mendel ?

Mendel found two genetic factors-

1. The first one from a sperm cell

2. And another one from an egg cell- control each trait.

Other patterns of inheritance , for example codominance and polygenic inheritance, are more complex than what Mendel described.
