Why do some molecules have a resonance structure?

Certain molecules have resonance structures because when the molecules form, if the bonds do not fill the outer electron shell, that there is some variability where the bonds can form and lone pairs will be located, although the molecular geometry will be the same regardless of resonance  

12 is probably the typical age for a first kiss but i think its to young.
