A student is required to experimentally find the specific heat of an unknown solid. The student is provided with a 15.0 gram sample of the solid, a Styrofoam cup which contains 100.0 grams of water at 20.0 C and a 250 beaker of boiling water (100.0C). The student places the solid sample into the boiling water and boils it for 10.0 minutes at which time the solid reaches a temperature of 100.0C. At this point the student quickly removes the solid from the boiling water and places the solid into the Styrofoam cup when the temperature of the water in the Styrofoam increases from 20.0C to 21.1C. Help the student and calculate the specific heat of the solid.
