PLEASE HELP Step 6: Evaluate your project using this checklist.
If you can check each criterion below, you are ready to submit your project.
 Did you predict the products of the chemical reaction and write the completed chemical
equation on your paper? This initial chemical equation should include the reactants and your Did you explain your initial prediction? Your explanation should identify the products of the
chemical reaction, explain why these are the products based on trends in the periodic table
(the number of valence electrons, electronegativity, etc.), identify the types of bonds in the
reactants and products, identify the number of each type of bond in the reactants and
products, and identify the type of reaction.
 Did you create Lewis dot diagrams for each reactant and product in the chemical reaction?
Your diagrams should include the correct number of valence electrons for each atom shown.
Also be sure that you used a different color for each element. An element’s symbol and
valence electrons should be in the same color.
 Did you review and revise your prediction and write the completed chemical equation on your
paper? This revised chemical equation should include reactants and your predicted products.
All elements should be balanced on each side of the equation.
 Did you review and revise your explanation? Your revised explanation should still identify the
products of the chemical reaction, explain why these are the products based on trends in the
periodic table (the number of valence electrons, electronegativity, etc.), identify the types of
bonds in the reactants and products, identify the number of each type of bond in the reactants
and products, and identify the type of reaction. It should also address the results of your Lewis
dot diagrams and address and adhere to the law of conservation of mass. Finally, it should
describe trends in the periodic table, such as electronegativity and valence electrons, and
explain how they help predict the outcomes of chemical reactions.
