A new pesticide, MCTPi is added to a dosed ecosystem containing air, water, and fish, ail at 25°C. Given the information below, compute the approximate distribution of MCTP in the system if:
(a) 0.1 mol of MCTP is added to the system.
{b) 75.0 mol of MCTP is added to the system.
(c) after removing some of the MCTP from the system in part (b), the equilibrium concentration of M CTP in the ecosystem air is 5 x 10-4mol/m3 . Estimated phase volumes:
Ecosystem = 200 m3
Water= 18 m3
Fish = 0.001 m3
MCTP properties: Kow= 3200
Kb = K. ow /0.7
Molecular weight= 150 g/mol
Aqueous solubility= 200 mg/L. Vapor pressure = 400 Pa, Density = 1.4 g/mL
