A farmer is developing a homemade weather station to monitor changes in weather that might affect crop growth. Two of the components of the station are a temperature-measuring system and a rain gauge.

-Describe a way in which cost could be a tradeoff in how the farmer decides to record the temperature with the weather station.
Tests of the rain gauge designed by the farmer reveal that it did not accurately record rainfall because so little could be collected in the narrow opening of the measuring tube.

-Describe a way that the farmer could optimize the design to increase its accuracy.
