This is the zone in the underground where all the pores in between the soil particles are filled with water. It usually happens when water, after precipitation, seeps below the ground surface and continues to sink underground by gravity. There is a point in the ground where it is completely saturated and this point is referred to as the water table. The water table rises and falls depending on the seasons. It rises during rainy seasons when there is high precipitation and falls in dry seasons when most of the water is lost by capillary action and evaporation on the ground surface.
