Phosgene, a poisonous gas used during WWI, is composed of 12.1% C, 16.2% O, and 71.1% Cl. What is the empirical formula of phosgene? (Hint: Assume 100 grams of starting material, which directly gives you the number of grams of each element. Convert the number of grams of each element to moles, then divide by the smallest number of moles. This gives you the ratio of C to O to Cl.)
