Part of many surgical procedures is the anesthesia based on the inhalation of gases. We consider a simple anesthesia machine, which is commonly used in biomedical research with rats and mice*. A stream (I) consisting of pure oxygen enters the machine at room temperature. There, it is mixed with a chemical compound called isoflurane, which has anesthetic properties (C3H2ClF5O, MW 184.49, density = 1.496 g/mL , boiling point 48.5 OC). Liquid isoflurane is entering the machine from a reservoir (stream II). Leaving the reservoir is a stream (III) of oxygen containing 2% isoflurane gas. The flow of the product stream is 5 l/min at a temperature of 295 K and atmospheric pressure. The liquid reservoir contains initially 50 ml of isoflurane. How long can the anesthesia machine operate until the isoflurane has to be replenished
