In one compartment of a voltaic cell, a graphite electrode dips into an acidic solution of K2Cr2O7and Cr(NO3)3. In The other, a bar of solid tin dips into a Sn(NO3)2 solution. A KNO3 salt bridge joins the two compartments. The tin electrode is negative relative to the graphite. What is the oxidation half-reaction and what is the reduction half-reaction?
