First, density and specific weight are relationated. When you have distint liquids and solid, and you put them together in one vessel, you can predict the position of each of them, just watching their values of density and specific weight.

As water has a greater density, the object will not sink and sumerge into water; instead, it's going to float over water.

Same principle applies here. If the object has a higher density than the medium, the object will go to the bottom.
