Amixture of 5mol% butane and 95mol% air is fed to a sieve-plate absorber containing 8 ideal plates at 1 atm and 288.15k.
the absorbing liquid is a heavy, nonvolatile oi. the recovery of butane is to be 95%.
the vapor pressure of butane at 288.15k is 1.92atm.

a)calculate the minimum amount of oil needed for this operation per 100 kmol/h of the gas mixture

b)calculate the amount of fresh oil used in this operation.

c)when the column pressure is increased to 3 atm, calculate the recovery of butane when the same amount of oil in (b) is used.

Modern pennies are composed of zinc coated with copper. a student determines the mass of a penny to be 2.482 g and then makes several scratches in the copper coaling (to expose the underlying zinc). the student puts the scratched penny in hydrochloric acid, where the following reaction occurs between the zinc and the hcl (the copper remains undissolved): zn(s) + 2 hcl(aq) → h2(g) + zncl(aq)the student collects the hydrogen produced over water at 25 °c. the collected gas occupies a volume of 0.899 l at a total pressure of 79 j mmhg. calculate the percent zinc (by mass) in the penny. (assume that all the zn in the penny dissolves.)
