You are an environmental engineer working at a petroleum “farm” in chelsea, ma. you are responsible to maintain an inventory of the volume of petroleum in each tank and check for discrepancies in inventory. you notice a 20,000-gallon negative discrepancy of unleaded gasoline and you notice a sheen on the stream and into the harbor that abuts the tank farm.
what do you do? who do you notify?
what agencies are likely to be involved in any cleanup. is the sheen related to the discrepancy or could there be another cause?
