What is the current scientific thinking about the formation of the solar system?

a. differences in the rate of radioactive decay of different elements caused planets of different sizes and unique properties to be formed from the dust and gas particles in the area of the universe that became the solar system.

b. during the big bang, fusion reactions created a large number of new elements and other matter that formed the objects in the solar system. when all the objects were formed that the solar system could accommodate, the fusion reactions stopped.

c. the solar system formed as a result of a series of supernova events. elements scattered by these events recombined to form the sun, the planets, moons, and all other celestial bodies found in today's solar system.

d. the solar system formed from the dust and gases in a nebula. a center bulge in the nebula became the sun. the area of flat rings in the nebula became the individual orbital paths in which the planets revolve around the sun in the plane of the ring the path came from. dust and gas particles found in each area combined to form the planets and their moons.
