Plz help asap! Zenith Corp. had to lay off several employees during a period of high interest rates in the market. What caused this to happen?

When the interest rates were high, (production costs, supply, profits) would have increased, while at the same time, (consumer spending, employment rate, quality of life) would have reduced. This would have adversely affected Zenith Corp., leading to the layoff of several employees.
