The term biomass can be defined as the source of energy which can be used again and again. The source of this energy is living plants means the source has to be something which as biological origin.

It can be as simple as a wooden log or as complex as alcohol. Biomass can be better than coal because it does not takes that much time to grow a plant or perform distillation to form alcohol.

This is the reason why biomass is much better to be used as a source of energy as compared to that of coal.
