A capsular restriction is a limitation usually followed by immobilization. The word capsule is a tough membrane enclosing a body part. In this case, the volleyball player is having an elbow pain and with passive movement, a full range of motion exercises must be done in all directions to evaluate the capsular pain. A midrange movement may not have findings thus the examiner must take a closer look at the pattern of restriction. There will be some patterns in the joint if it is the one affected.It might be a combination of joint reaction with spasm leading to capsular constriction.
