Connective tissue in the muscle is made up of two proteins called collagen and elastin. Although collagen is seen mostly in and around the muscle fibres and tendon. Elastin on the other hand, is bundles of proteins in extracellular matrix of connective tissue and produced by fibroblasts and smooth muscle cells in arteries. Elastin fibres may be stretched to several times their original length but rapidly resume original length once released.
