As the names would suggest, the earth sciences broadly treat our understanding of how the earth works, at all levels from the Inner Core to near outer space, whereas environmental science focuses on the parts of Earth where life exists, with particular but by no means exclusive concern for human life, and for impacts of and vulnerabilities to chemicals, heat, radiation, precipitation, atmospheric composition, water composition, etc.Environmental engineering is also very important and deals with mitigation of whatever environmental science regards as environmental threats.To the extent that climate sciences exist as such, one can take the lead from the International Panel on Climate Change, whose reports are organized into three working groups.The physical basis for climate changeImpacts of and vulnerabilities to climate change.Mitigation of climate change.1 and 2 can be considered aspects of environmental science while 3 is more closely related to environmental engineering.
