The Law of the independent assortment was proposed by Gregor Mendel, which states that allele pair separates from each other during the time of gamete formation independent of each other. In other words,  gene separates independently from each other and enter into sex cells during meiosis. It was observed by Mendel in 1865 during his studies of genetics in pea plant.
