Thick Bark:

The bark of Douglas fir plants is thicker than other plant species and its composition looks like a cork which prevent the loss of water from the plant.

Adventitious roots:

These plants have developed adventitious roots that grows directly from the truck instead of the roots. This adaptation makes a stronger connection with soil and these plants are not easily ripped off.  

Long life cycle and Rapid growth:

Douglas fir plants have long life cycle as well as rapid growth rate. So they are found in abundance.
