The slender, curved bone that is located inferior to the skull between the mandible and larynx is the bone. it is unique in that is does not articulate with any bones in the body.

The hyoid bone is the only bone in the human body that does not articulate with any other bones. The hyoid bone's main function is regulating tongue functions- movement and swallowing. This bone is located at the root of the tongue, in between the jaw (mandible) and the larynx. The attached photo shows its location. 

It is evolution, because we all have some of the same traits like eye color or shape or ears.
