Some biologists believed that spontaneous generation could occur in the presence of air. that is life could rise from nonliving matter in the presence of air. However French scientist Louis Pastuer performed an experiment to prove that spontaneous generation of life does not occur today. Reasons why it has been concluded that cells cannot rise from noncellular matter include up to today, no known example of increase in mass of cells without cell division and cells are highly complex and no any mechanism has been suggested to be able to create simpler subunits.
