These group of bacteria contain light absorbing pigment that makes them able to photosynthesize. Some common bacteria that  photosynthesize are cynobacteria, purple bacteria, green sulphur bacteria and green gliding bacteria. These all bacteria contain pigment to absorb light and perform photosynthesis to make their own food.
