On earth, why is carbon, which is found in the carbon family, especially important?

Carbon is important because its used in photosynthesis and creates oxygen in which humans breathe.

It's either -limiting factors or -scarce resources but i'd go with my first answer since the food and water are abundant they really aren't scarce
