After getting pregnant, an expecting mother should attain about fifteen to twenty-five pounds of weight, which is regarded as healthy and normal. The majority of expecting mothers only achieve a gain of about 2.5 pounds at the time of the first trimester. However, a gain in weight of about one pound in a week all through the left part of the pregnancy is considered quite normal.
