water hyacinths also known as Pontederia crassipes considers as most  the worst aquatic weed in the world.

They are the fastest growing weed that allowed the plant to build huge populations in its ranges of introduction. They develop dense mats on the surface of the water and becoming a major weed problem.

due to their dense layering in  the surface the sun light cant travel properly in the water and the consumption of oxygen is also taken up by them hence it result the lack of oxygen in the water.

in BENGAL it is also known as the "terror of Bengal"
