Functions of the lungs are:

1) It is the most vital organ in the respiratory system for gaseous exchange in the body.

2)It is the organ which oxygenates the deoxygenated blood from the Pulmonary arteries.

3) The lungs’ main role is to bring in air from the atmosphere and pass oxygen into the bloodstream. From there, it circulates to the rest of the body.
