Evaluate why culturing prokaryotes proves useful for study, and explain what it means for science and research when prokaryotes cannot be cultured.
Culturing is not used as a diagnostic tool in medicine, but is important in biotechnology. If a microbe cannot be cultured, its genetics cannot
be studied.
Developing a culture of prokaryotes allows them to produce genes for their transfer, helping in recombinant DNA technology. Thus if a
prokaryote cannot be cultured, it cannot be used in biotechnology.
Culturing is a primary diagnostic tool in medicine. If a prokaryote cannot be cultured, it is more diftult to study for the development of
medicine or to develop clean waste areas.
Developing a culture helps prokaryotes to develop antibiotic resistance. If a prokaryote cannot be cultured, it cannot develop antibiotic
resistance.
