Poison dart frog is the common name of a group of frogs in the family Dendrobatidae which are native to tropical Central and South America. Their membranes work best at temperatures between 72-80oF. Frogs are ectotherms, and unlike you, frogs cannot use their metabolism to regulate their body temperature; a shift in the temperature of their surroundings will cause a shift in their body temperature.
If you could manipulate the membranes of the poison dart frog's cells, what you do to make it better able to withstand colder temperatures (e. g. 50oF)?(Take your time and think about what would make a membrane more fluid. And for cholesterol, we are talking about a colder temperature; remember that cholesterol impacts fluidity differently at colder temperatures than it does at warmer temperatures)
Select all correct choices.
a. add more phospholipids with long fatty acid tails
b. add more phospholipids with short fatty acid tails
c. remove cholesterol
d. add more phospholipids with saturated fatty acids
e. add more phosospholipids with unsaturated fatty acids
f. add more proteins
g. add more cholesterol
