Hypothesis: If a candle is burned in an enclosed area, then it will be depleted of oxygen, causing the candle burn out. Choose the answer that best represents the conclusion that
could be drawn from the experiment.
A)As predicted in the hypothesis, the candle stopped burning when the oxygen inside the sealed glass box was depleted. The 3" x 5" x 5" box contains 75 cubic Inches. If 21% of air is oxygen, then we can calculate that 15.75 cuble Inches of oxygen combined with the carbon and hydrogen in the candle, probably forming carbon dioxide and possibly carbon monoxide.
B)A candle was ignited with a match and placed inside an airtight box made of glass, 3'5" x 5" A stopwatch was used to time the observation. The candle inside the airtight box started
flickering in 3 min 42 sec. It went out in 4 min 1 sec.
C)The experiment proves that a burning object uses oxygen, and once the oxygen is removed, the buming or oxidation process stops. We could reasonably deduce that in order for something to
burn, there needs to be three elements: heat (match), oxygen (alt), and fuel (candle). We made guesses as to what the oxygen combined with to make new compounds, based on previous
knowledge of compounds made from the combustion process. To prove what they are, we would need to design a new experiment.
D)A candle needs oxygen in order to burn. If a candle bums (oxidizes) in an enclosed space, eventually the oxygen in the air will disappear as the o2combines with the compounds in the candle.

What is the difference between the conducting zone and the respiratory zone of the respiratory system? the conducting zone is a series of cavities and tubes that move air to the respiratory zone where gases exchange with the bloodstream. the conducting zone exchanges gases between the lungs and the alveoli and the respiratory zone is a series of cavities and tubes that move air to the conducting zone. the conducting zone moves oxygen into the cells and the respiratory zone takes carbon dioxide away from the cells. the conducting zone moves oxygen into the bloodstream and the respiratory zone takes carbon dioxide away from the bloodstream.
