You are driving down the highway at 60 mph. This is the speed you always like to drive ... a "set-point" of sorts. However today you have forgotten to set your cruise control and then start daydreaming about your new A&P class and how much you love it and how great your instructor is :) All of the sudden you realize that, in your absent mindedness and happiness, you are now driving 80 mph. So: your stimulus or initial condition is: increased speed. If you respond via negative feedback, what will you do? Explain.
If instead, you find that your body responds to the increased speed by giving you a new found (and good) feeling of exhilaration, how could this result in the establishing of a positive feedback loop? Fully explain the loop.
Which of these situations (a or b) is working to maintain "speed homeostasis"?
