Sodium (Na) and Potassium (K) are elements that are constantly being moved in and out of cells to maintain
homeostasis (healthy and stable cell condition). When
the Na+ and K+ ions are out of balance, bad things
happen like heart attacks, muscles and nerve impulses
do not work properly, and the proper functions of cells
could deteriorate or cease entirely.
