Sodium (Na) and Potassium (K) are elements that are
constantly being moved in and out of cells to maintain
homeostasis (healthy and stable cell condition). When
the Na+ and K+ ions are out of balance, bad things
happen like heart attacks, muscles and nerve impulses
do not work properly, and the proper functions of cells
could deteriorate or cease entirely.
What protein is used to shuffle Na+ and K+ in and out of
cells through the cell membrane?
