Glacial lakes are the outcome of melted glaciers. When ice glaciers form and then eventually melt, over time it rubs away at the sediment sitting below it, causing the sediment to flow out of the way and form a little bowl. Once this bowl is formed, the melted glacier water flows down into it and settles there. Over time it gets bigger and deeper, creating glacier lakes.
