Hybrid animals are sometimes found in nature. For example, bottlenose dolphins sometimes mate with false killer males in the wild to produce wholphins. Humans sometimes mate two closely related species to produce hybrids. For example, it is possible to mate a tiger and lion to create a liger (m. lion X f. tiger) or a tigon (m. tiger X f. lion). Although human-created hybrids can sometimes bring scientific benefits, sometimes the experiments are done for “fun” and because the offspring are “cool.” The offspring from human-created hybrids can be prone to health issues and the mothers can suffer complications from the resulting pregnancies. Do you think it is ethical to create hybrids? Justify your answer.
