They put the first manmade object in space, Sputnik. They put the first man and woman in space. They also conducted the first space walk and put the first probe on Mars. However an American may argue that when the Americans landed on the moon, that was without question the biggest accomplishment in the space race. As the decades advanced, the Soviets’ space ventures fizzled out while the Americans’ space ventures grew. They made huge accomplishments, such as putting rovers on Mars and sending probes into deep space that no country has ever matched. If you had to make the call, who would you declare the winner of this epic space race? Try not to be biased towards a country for any reason other than using the facts.
