During Hurricane Katrina, using chromosomal DNA evidence and medical/dental records to identify remains was next to impossible because locations of stored records were destroyed during the disaster. Many of the unknown human remains were identified using mitochondrial DNA analysis.
A)Explain how locating just the potential mother and siblings would have allowed authorities to identify remains of a missing person using this technique.
B)Explain how locating just the potential father would not have aided in identifying the remains of a missing person using mitochondrial DNA.
C)Explain how being able to locate both the potential mother and the potential father would have allowed authorities to identify the remains of a missing person using chromosomal DNA.
