The sodium-glucose is a transmembrane protein and it occurs on the apical membrane epithelial cells of the small intestines. Sodium and glucose bind to this protein and are simultaneously moved into the epithelial cells using a sodium electrochemical gradient as its source of energy, and therefore this is a type of transport.
