PLEASE HELP LOL To test the hypothesis that lectin exposure increases the rate of cell division, onion plants were exposed to lectin dissolved in water or water alone. After 4 days, the onion plants' root tips were cut into thin slices, placed on a microscope slide and stained with a dye that binds to DNA, making it appear blue. Since it can be hard to distinguish each phase of mitosis using this method (as you probably experienced in part 1) cells were classified as belng in interphase or mitosis. More than 200 cells were counted in 8 onion plants of the same variety and age, grown in the same temperature. All plants were supplied with the same amount of fertilizer and nutrients. 1.
