Explanation: Wetlands are the shallow lands that are either permanently or seasonally occupied with water. The water in the wetland comes from the river, lakes, ponds, oceans, melting glaciers and rainfall. The wetlands acts as a  natural filters of the waste materials. As some of the wastes like minerals are absorbed by the plants, silt and mud are trapped by the plant roots.
