The structure of ‘DNA” was revealed by a sequence of experiments. Rosalind Franklin obtained the XX-ray micro graph of DNA using X-ray crystallography and revealed the helical shape of the DNA molecule. The XX-ray micro graph consisted of an X-shaped pattern that was derived from the DNA molecule that is double helix in nature. James Watson along with Francis Crick came up with a structure of DNA showing complementary base pairing.The sequence of base pairs in DNA encodes all the genetic information of an organism.It can be a double or single-stranded molecule found in almost all living cells. Genetic information is present in the form of nucleotides (base+sugar+phosphate group). These nucleotides are monomer of nucleic acids (DNA or RNA) and make up the structures of the same.
