How would the food web be affected if the phytoplankton were removed?

Phytoplankton is a primary consumer. So, all the level above it would be affected if they were removed. In unavailability of phytoplankton, higher trophic level organisms can't get their nutrition from it & they would get die. So, the whole ecosystem & food web will be affected by it.
