Amoeba, euglena, paramecium, and diatoms are all a part of the kingdom Protist. Protist are eukaryotic organisms, found in aquatic environments that are classified into three groups.  Animal-like protists, plant-like protists, and fungus-like protist.  Some protist cause disease such as malaria, giardia, and African sleeping sickness, but many are very helpful to our environment.  Protists are very important in oxygen production, they are also found in gasoline, and without protist there would be no phytoplankton to feed our marine world.
